If you want to print the current date in Perl use in-line shell like this:
print `date +%d-%m-%Y:%H:%M:%S`;
In shell:
echo `date +%d-%m-%Y:%H:%M:%S`
The output looks in both ways like this:
04-03-2015:18:06:38
